uppåkradagen 2014
Inspired by the result of the excavations of last season, where ovens for bread-baking were uncovered, we will once again be able to smell freshly baked bread and cooking in Uppåkra this day. There will be lectures connected to Uppåkra’s food culture, as well as free tours with Iron Age smells and tastes as general theme.

During the day, we have invited the archaeologist Daniel Serra, who along with the taste expert Hanna Tunberg recently published the book “An Early Meal -a Viking Age Cookbook & Culinary Odyssey”. We will test a few of the “Uppåkra recipes” in the book, based on actual finds on site .

In connection with the event, Uppåkra church will be opened for ”The mass of time” at 11:00 am.

The public tours will be held in Swedish, as well as lectures by Daniel Serra, site director Jan Apel, and  Johanna Bergqvist.
