About Uppåkra

UPPÅKRA HAS, after the archaeological excavations in later years, proved to be the largest, richest and most long-lived Iron Age settlement in southern Sweden. A town-like settlement on the site was the place for intensive and complex activity for more than a milennium, from the century b.c until about 1.000 a.d.

barbaricumThe site of the Iron Age town Uppåkra lies in Staffanstorp municipality in Skåne, right next to Lund.
Uppåkra Archaeological Centre  is located in Gamla Prästgården, which can be found behind Uppåkra kyrka next to the parking lot. We offer guided tours of the site. There is also a café and a smaller Gift shop. The archaeologists responsible for excavating the site are also stationed here.If you would like to see the exciting finds made in Uppåkra, you are more than welcome to visit the excibition “Barbaricum – Uppåkra och Skånes järnålder”. The excibition is located at the Lund University Historical Museum. For more information about the museum and its opening hours, click on the link here.

Guided tours/Guidade visningar 2016

Guided tours in English: Thursdays at 12.30 pm during June, July and August.

Admission: 40 SEK. Children 0-18 free of charge. A guided tour takes about one hour. No pre-booking necessary. To book a guided tour in English or German (1500 SEK) call +46709351250 or e-mail ulrika.randver@uppakra.se.
